In this article, we will show you how to use the visual drag-n-drop interface of SmartFormer Gold to create a responsive form that looks good on desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

Step 1: Install SmartFormer Gold

To install SmartFormer Gold, you need to download the zip file from IToris website[^3^] and upload it to your Joomla 1.3 administrator panel. Go to Extensions > Install/Uninstall and browse for the zip file. Click on Upload File & Install and wait for the installation to complete.

Step 2: Create a New Form

Once SmartFormer Gold is installed, you can access it from Components > SmartFormer Gold. To create a new form, click on New Form button on the top right corner. You will see a blank canvas where you can drag and drop HTML elements to design your form.

Step 3: Add HTML Elements

SmartFormer Gold offers a variety of HTML elements that you can use to create your form, such as input boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns, textareas, images, links, buttons, file uploads and captchas. You can find them on the left panel under Elements tab. Simply drag an element from the panel and drop it on the canvas where you want it to appear.

For example, if you want to create a contact us form, you might want to add an input box for name, an input box for email, a textarea for message and a submit button. You can also add a captcha element to protect your form from spam submissions.

Step 4: Edit Element Properties

After adding an element to your form, you can edit its properties on the right panel under Properties tab. You can change its HTML attributes, styles and JavaScript events according to your needs. For example, you can change the label, name, value, placeholder, size and required status of an input box.

You can also use the integrated PHP/JS/HTML/CSS editors to insert custom code into your form or customize its appearance. For example, you can use PHP code to pre-fill some fields with user data or use CSS code to change the color or font of your form.

Step 5: Save and Preview Your Form

When you are done designing your form, you can save it by clicking on Save Form button on the top right corner. You can also preview how your form looks like on different devices by clicking on Preview Form button next to it. You will see a pop-up window where you can switch between desktop, tablet and mobile views.

Step 6: Publish Your Form

To publish your form on your Joomla 1.3 website, you have three options: component, module or plugin. You can choose the option that suits your needs best from the Publish tab on the right panel.

Component: This option allows you to create a menu item that links to your form. You can select a menu type and a menu name for your form and click on Create Menu Item button.

Module: This option allows you to display your form as a module in any position of your template. You can select a module position and a module title for your form and click on Create Module button.

Plugin: This option allows you to insert your form into any article or custom HTML module using a shortcode. You can copy the shortcode for your form and paste it where you want it to appear.
